Wedding Editorial Project at Château de Nandy, near Paris
Pale stone, red curtains and a garden that darkens slowly. An editorial project at Château de Nandy, near Paris, that brings together how I look at couple portraits, architecture and the relationship between light and place.
The venue
Château de Nandy is in Seine-et-Marne, near Paris. For this project I was drawn to its rooms with antique tapestries, the stone staircase, the tall windows and the gravel garden, where the light falls soft at the end of the afternoon.
The building already has character: the flowers, white and simple, only had to keep it company.

Three moments
We began indoors, with window light and the groom’s tuxedo. The bride, in a lace gown and a long veil, walked through the gallery to the courtyard; then we went out to the garden for the couple portraits and a table with candles and gypsophila.
I worked in colour and in black and white: colour tells the place; black and white tells the gesture.
A way of looking
I look for the light first and the frame second, and let each image leave room for the place.
