Best time to get married in Paris

There is no perfect season: there is the one that best fits what you are looking for. These are the differences that matter, above all for the light and the feel of the day.

Summer: June to August

This is peak season. There are more tourists at the well-known places and more demand for suppliers and paperwork. In return the days are very long: around the June solstice the sun rises at about 5:47 and sets close to 9:56 pm, roughly 16 hours of light. There is plenty of room to shoot at sunrise or late afternoon, when it is less crowded.

Spring and autumn

April, and October until early November, are usually recommended for milder weather and smaller crowds. It is the combination most people look for in an elopement or a small wedding: quieter places and more comfortable light.

Winter: November to March

It is cold and the days are short: around the December solstice the sun rises at about 8:38 and sets around 4:55 pm, roughly 8 hours of light. In return Paris is quieter and has a festive air that many couples love. Plan the ceremony time knowing the light runs out early.

What weighs most when deciding

First, the availability of the place you want; then, the light your wedding needs; and finally the budget, which usually rises in peak season. If the wedding is legal, also allow for the mairie’s timelines, which stretch from May to September.

My advice

Choose the place first, then the date, and only then fix the schedule with the sunset time in hand. That is how the day never has to be stopped.

Daylight times are approximate and vary from day to day. Confirm availability and requirements with each venue and town hall.
